War in Syria: Country's health system under attack
Edité par France 24
Rola Hallam is a British-Syrian doctor specializing in anaesthesia and intensive care. She has been to Syria many times during the conflict, initially as a volunteer with the NGO Hand in Hand for Syria and is now their Medical Director.
She tells Armen Georgian what is happening on the ground in Syria - including deliberate bombings of hospitals - and what NGOs and other bodies can do to help.
- Note
As the Syrian war nears its fourth anniversary, we take a look at the cost to the physical and mental health of civilians. Amid deliberate targeting of the healthcare system, large swathes of the country are virtually without medical facilities. As a result, many thousands have died from treatable conditions or injuries.
