The new French government has begun work on controversial plans to overhaul the country's strict labour laws. Unions and business representatives have been meeting ministers to discuss how the rules could be adjusted to help companies hire more easily. But it won't be easy: previous attempts to reform the labour code have caused strikes and massive public demonstrations.
